Quay Place lies on the banks of Bow Creek in Tuckenhay, some 3.5 miles south of Totnes, in Devon's South Hams.

Bow Creek is the tidal stretch of the Harbourne River that joins the Dart just west of Stoke Gabriel.

Downstream from Tuckenhay, Bow Creek widens into what looks like a lake but isn't — it merges with the Dart via a short "S"-shaped section.
